The files these cameras output in RAW mode can’t be read by all RAW converters if they don’t have X-Trans compatibility. This is important if you use a FujiFilm camera with X-trans sensor like the FujiFilm X-T5. If you only have 2 systems the Essential version will be enough for you. I will do the same in a little less detail for Photolab 7, so if you need to know more check out my previous review as well since Photolab 6 and 7 do work alike.įor this review I’ve used PhotoLab 7 Elite and FilmPack 7 on my iMac 24 inch with 16 GB of RAM. In that review I also talked about the difference between Adobe Lightroom and PhotoLab. Last year I reviewed PhotoLab 6, and I really liked it. I’ll try to see if this can be the Lightroom alternative you’ve all been waiting for. I’ll look at the functionality and tell you about my experience with this new software. Any ideas appreciated. This is a full review about the all new DXO PhotoLab 7. I did reach out earlier today and sent a message to the DXO but have heard nothing back. The 27 inch iMac is a custom build, I purchased about a year and a half ago with 64 GB of RAM, 4 TB SSD and upgraded graphics card. I also download the software onto my base M1 MacBook Air that only has 8 GB of RAM and it is normal on that machine. Nothing has changed whatsoever anywhere and the preferences are all the same. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Lightroom classic, as well as pure raw 2 to no avail. The time it takes to do the processing is the same and it’s just bringing the files back into Lightroom where the problem lies. It literally takes anywhere between five and eight minutes just to bring 6-8 images back into Lightroom classic. After making the Purchase and entering the key, the speed at which it brings the images back into Lightroom classic is just exponentially slower now. After running the trials and with today’s black Friday sales, I decided to go with pure raw 2. I did a couple trials one of which was pure raw 2 and the other was the DXO photo lab.
